SUMMARY:Journaling Fools | 4 Sunday Sessions | July 7\, 14\, 21\, 28 | Live via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Register here. \nI’ve done a lot of foolish things in my life. Back in my early 20s\, for example\, I jumped out of an airplane. Of course I was wearing a parachute\, but still. I don’t think I’d do that again.\n*\nI’ve played the fool & been played as a fool.\n*\nFor the next 4 Sunday evenings in July I’ll be leading 1-hour journaling sessions on Fools. I’m excited to get a chance to examine this zany archetype within us all. The fool is often willing to speak honestly\, playfully\, and courageously. The fool often turns out to be the wise one.\n*\nQuestion–Do you think The Fool actually steps off the cliff because they’re looking away? It’s just a question.\n*\nEach session will have a theme\, and within those themes we’ll write about foolish things we’ve done\, foolish things we wish we’d done\, foolish things we’d like to do\, foolish ideas that stuck\, how we’re being environmental fools\, the times we’re fully alive\, and new\, wacky journeys we’re beginning. Yes\, us journaling fools.\n*\nFoolish Us\nFools for the Earth\nTomfoolery\nThe Fool’s Journey\n*\nThe sessions are 7-8 pm Eastern on July 7 | 14 | 21 | 28\, four Sundays in a row.\n*\nBest of all\, you choose the price. I do not jest.\n*\nRegister here.\n*\nEach session includes a short PowerPoint on some aspect of The Fool\, timed writing prompts\, time for reading aloud (if you want)\, juicy interaction in the Chat\, a joke or two.\n*\nCome with me & ye shall see:\nan increase in creative output.\na chance to generate AT LEAST 16 writing pieces that can be used alone or in a longer work.\n1 hour in the week JUST FOR YOU.\na good time. A fun\, cheerful\, encouraging vibe.\n*\nAs you can imagine\, one hour flies by. So have your journal and pencils ready.\n*\nAnd that skydive that I mentioned at the beginning of this post? I landed in a tree! For real. That was poetic justice\, wasn’t it?

SUMMARY:Meet the Author | SOLD OUT--Woods of Fannin | Georgia Writers Museum--SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:In the fall of 1945\, eight children\, brothers and sisters ranging in age from three months to ten years\, vanished from a rented bungalow in Morganton\, Georgia. They were taken by mule and wagon to a remote shack in the Blue Ridge foothills of Fannin County\, near the North Carolina line. For the next four years they would live mostly alone\, without mother or father\, roaming the mountains and valleys of what had been Cherokee Territory\, scouring for food and scrambling to take care of themselves and each other. \nAbout Janisse \nJanisse Ray grew up in a junkyard along U.S. Highway 1 near Baxley\, Ga. She is the author of Ecology of a Cracker Childhood\, which won the American Book Award and other honors. Since Ecology she has published five books. \nThe Seed Underground: A Growing Revolution to Save Food came out from Chelsea Green Publishing in 2012. Most of her work is literary nonfiction and deals with the human relationship to nature. \nShe earned an MFA from the University of Montana and holds two honorary doctorates\, one from LaGrange College in LaGrange\, GA and one from Unity College in Unity\, ME. In 2016 she was inducted into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame and in 2019 won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Writers Association. \nShe lives on an organic farm in Georgia. \nShe writes poetry and fiction in addition to creative nonfiction.
